URGENT LEGAL FUND FOR ABU

Help Bring a Good Man Home
Abu at a community event
Abu at a community gathering in Fargo-Moorhead

Abu came to America seeking safety after surviving unimaginable violence in his home country. He lost family members to political persecution. He witnessed things no person should ever have to witness. And despite all of that, everyone who meets Abu describes the same thing: his kindness, his quiet strength, and his determination to build a better life.

Since arriving in the Fargo-Moorhead community, Abu has been exactly the kind of person any neighborhood would be lucky to have. He enrolled in a welding training program to build job skills. He volunteers at community events. He helps his neighbors without being asked. He has become a father figure to the children in his life. He shows up for the people around him, consistently and without fanfare.

Now Abu needs us to show up for him.

Abu has been detained since November 5, 2025. His initial request for bond was denied, and he has now been in custody for three months. His legal team has identified a critical next step: filing a habeas action, which requires an attorney with specialized expertise. That attorney requires a $10,000 retainer, and time is of the essence.

This is not about politics. This is about a human being who has already survived tremendous suffering and is now fighting for a chance to live in safety. A man who, despite everything he has been through, still finds ways to lift up the people around him.
